Over $9,000 Raised with Santa Speedo Fun Run!
On Saturday December 6, 2014 over 50 people gathered in the streets of Downtown Santa Ana to support Orange County LGBT Pride’s Santa Speedo Fun Run. Donning speedos, santa hats, reindeer antlers and other crazy outfits, this scantily clad group ran a two mile course through Downtown Santa Ana to raise money for the 2015 Orange County LGBT Pride festival. They gathered much attention with car honks and whistles catching most citygoers by surprise.
Each runner has been working hard the last couple months to gain sponsors and donations to support this cause. Once runners met a minimum individual fundraising amount, they earned a reward of a free brunch at Velvet Lounge with bottomless mimosas for after the run. The top earner also won 2 tickets to see Kinky Boots at Segerstrom Center for the Arts at the end of December. In the end, over $9,000 was raised during this event. They even received many donations from Pride Festivals supporting from other parts of the country.
Santa Speedo Runs take place all across the country with various organizations. While East Coast runners often have to fight snow and other tumultuous cold weather, last weekend’s Orange County runners enjoyed a nice run on a beautiful, 73 degree and sunny day.Posted on December 9, 2014 in Fundraiser, Press, Pride 2015, Volunteers
