2014 Year in Review: Positive Change
As the year comes to an end, we look back on all the positive strides that 2014 brought the LGBT community.
Each week the number of states that recognize same-sex marriage increases. Heading into 2015, same sex couples can get married in 37 states.
The FDA declared that they will recommend a change to the blood donation ban for men who have sex with other men. This is a huge win as this discriminatory ban has been in place since the 80s.
More and more professional athletes and other celebrities are finding the courage to be open about their sexual identity to the public. Our LGBT youth have more high-profile role models and an increased feeling of LGBT acceptance.
And Orange County Pride itself is experiencing great change: a governing Board with many brand new members bringing new ideas, energy and skill sets.
